Why seven Charges Coaches $0 (And How We Make Money)

The seven team···6 min read

Every coaching platform you've looked at charges you money. Trainerize, Everfit, TrueCoach, PT Distinction, Kahunas — the price ranges from about $35 to $140 a month, and it goes up as you add clients. seven charges coaches $0. No monthly fee, no setup cost, no per-client pricing. This tends to make people suspicious, so here's the honest breakdown of how it works and where the money actually comes from.

The business every other platform is in

Traditional coaching software sells you tools. You pay a monthly subscription, you get a program builder and a client dashboard and a chat box, and then you're on your own to go find people to coach. The software company makes money whether or not you ever land a client. Their incentive is to keep you subscribed, not to grow your business.

That's a fine business — for them. The problem is that over half of trainers still find clients through word of mouth and referrals, and none of that software solves it. You're paying for a toolkit and keeping the hardest, most expensive problem entirely to yourself.

What seven does instead

seven isn't software you rent. It's a curated platform with its own audience of paying members. Members subscribe to seven, get matched with a hand-picked coach, and pay a monthly membership. The coach gets the full toolkit — program builder, member dashboards, check-ins, messaging, a native member app and a native coach app — for free, and keeps the income from the programs they sell.

We flipped the model. Instead of coaches paying us to find clients, we bring the members, and the coaching income is yours.

So how does seven make money?

Not from you. The membership your clients pay for the app — $19/month or $199/year — is seven's. That single subscription is what funds the app, the support, and the marketing that keeps bringing new members in. You don't pay it, and you don't take a share of it; in exchange, the platform costs you nothing to be on.

What you earn is separate: the personalized programs you sell. You set the price, and:

  • If you're not featured, you keep 100% of every program you sell. seven takes nothing.
  • If we feature you — meaning we spotlight your profile to the entire member base and send clients your way — seven takes 30% of your program sales and you keep 70%. That 30% is the trade for the promotion and the traffic.

Either way, your client pays you directly for the program, so you're paid right away.

Why membership stays with seven

Here's the honest version: membership revenue funds everything that makes the platform work for you — the app, the payments, the support, and the ongoing marketing that brings new members long after you joined. Keeping that revenue is exactly what lets seven stay free for coaches and keep sending you members without ever charging a monthly fee.

And what's yours stays yours with no strings: your program income. You set the price, you keep 100% (or 70% if we feature you), with no cap and no time limit. We walk through the full math on the earnings page.

"Free" doesn't mean "unlimited spots"

The catch — if you want to call it that — is that seven is curated, not a marketplace. We feature 5 to 10 coaches, not five thousand. That's deliberate: a small roster means every member gets real attention, and every coach gets real demand instead of competing against a directory. It also means we can only take coaches we'd genuinely recommend, so there's an application.

Who this is for

seven makes sense if you'd rather spend your time coaching than marketing, if you're comfortable coaching online, and if you want a platform whose incentives actually line up with yours. It makes less sense if you already have a saturated client roster and a marketing machine you love — in that case, rented software you fully control might suit you better.

If the first description sounds like you, the model is simple: $0 to join, we bring the members, and you keep 100% of the programs you sell — 70% if we feature you. See exactly how the numbers work, or apply to coach — we review every application personally.
